LAWRENCE JOHNSON- WEBSTER THOMAS HIGH SCHOOL

Tell everyone about yourself?
Whats good, I'm Lawrence and I play varsity basketball at Thomas High School. I start at point guard and I also play aau basketball for Upstate Elite. We were ranked 11th in the nation and moving up. We're going to the nationals in late July.

What was your best game?
My best game was when I had 20 points and 10 assits in AAU game a little while ago.

Why are sports/education important to you?
I plan on basketball taking me to an elite level. I already got a couple letters and I have to put in more practice if I want more of them. My education is very important to me and I have an average above an 85 which separates me from a lot of other student-athletes. If a college has to choose between two athletes, they will choose the one with a better education.

What is your dream college?
My dream college would be the University of Kentucky because I love their dribble drive offense.

If a College Coach ask you, how can you make our team better, what would you say?
I would make an immedaate impact on and off the court by doing whatever you ask me to do.

What advice can you give other student-athletes?
Have a division 1 mindset on and off the court and that's how you can make it.

CJ CARPENTER- GEORGETOWN CHRISTIAN HOME EDUCATORS

Tell everyone about yourself?
My names CJ Carpenter, and I'm a 16 year old sophomore. I attend Georgetown Christian Home Educators in Georgetown, Texas. I play basketball for GCHE and AAU/MAYB for the Texas Titans. I am a 5 ft 7 inch combo guard(Point,Shooting) and play a little forward. I was recently contacted by a national recruiting service asking for more information!

What was your best game?
I feel my best game has not happened yet. I improve in every game and learn more about my skills has I go along. My team just started its first year and I finished with 34 points in 12 games. Although I didn't play alot of games (due to favoritism) my best game I had 8 points 1 rb and 3 assists. I have however, scored 17 points in more than one scrimmage games in rec ball.

Why are sports/education important to you?
Sports and education are really important to me because in life, if you stay in school and keep your grades up then alot of younger kids look up to you and you get a whole lot of opportunities with schools and sports! I cannot wait to go to college and earn a degree and hopefully play college basketball at the right place and make the right choice.

What can you do to make yourself better in your sport?
The only way I can get better is to listen to all the advice everyone gives me, and sorta let everyone around me influence and mentor my game, especially my family! I am also always at the gym playing pick-up games and lifting weights, because the harder you work the better you get. If you want to get better you need to admit you have strengths and you have weaknesses so the only way to improve those weaknesses is to play with better players!!!

What is your dream college?
I actually have alot of colleges I like mainly due to their school programs and their superb coaching,(style)! The following schools are just some of the places that would be a dream to attend and play basketball; University Of Texas/UT, Kentucky, Syracuse, UNC Tarheels, and The Tennessee Volunteers! These are just some of the schools that I not only enjoy watching but would enjoy to be a part of their incredible program. Just to be selected or sent a letter would be an honor for me and my family.

If a College Coach ask you, how can you make our team better, what would you say?
I would tell him that I would help him perfect his methods and plays. I would be a leader to the team 110% of the time and get him a championship win!

What advice can you give other student-athletes?
Stay and school, don't fall underneath pressure and take any sort of drugs whatsoever! Don't party at night celebrating a win because you have school the next day and need to stay in tip-top shape for the rest of the season! Always play hard, play your game (not anyone else) and most importantly don't get jacked up,you need to really relax.

My name is Kerby Lubin and I'm a 17 year old junior. I attend Dr.Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida. I play basketball for DP and AAU FOR Team DH Warriors. I'm A 6'1 combo guard(Point,Shooting). I'm one of the Top rising juniors in the STATE!

What was your best game?
My best game had to be in AAU where I had 35 points along with 7 assists,8 rebounds and 5 steals in a team effort for the W!

Why are sports/education important to you?
Both sports and education are important to me because I know for me to get as far as I plan on, I need to keep my head in the books. Keeping good grades will bring me to college and if basketball doesn't guide me, then I have something to look forward to, A DEGREE!

What can you do to make yourself better in your sport?
In order to become better in basketball I have to work much harder. I have to get better everyday and take no days off. I have to develop counters to my game and strengthen my weaknesses, make better decisions, and play smart. Watch the players who already made it and keep my game straight!

What is your dream college?
My dream college is the University of Connecticut(UCONN). I want to go there first because it's in my hometown! I have a lot of family there. I think I'll make a good fit under Calhoun's belt! I think my game will get better not only because of the college itself but the conference! The college campus is big and nice!

If a College Coach ask you, how can you make our team better, what would you say?
I can make our team better with leadership, teamwork, hard work, effort, discipline, and I'll give it 100% every night!

What advice can you give other student-athletes?
Stay in school and keep your grades sky high! Do what has to be done when it has to be done. Don't let anyone tell you that you're not good enough. Only you can control that. Ball hard and stay confident.

KISHON WILCHER- CASS TECH HIGH SCHOOL

Tell everyone about yourself?
My name is Kishon Wilcher and I play football for Cass Tech High School which I am currently a junior. At Cass I play mostly Slot and DB, but they also try me at running back, safety, KR, and PR. Last year I made All-City, and All-Metro in football. I also run track, my main event is the 200 and the 4x200 relay. In track I am All-City, All-State, and an All-American. I have a G.P.A of 3.5. That's just a quick summary about me.

What was your best game?
I think my best game was our homecoming game against Mumford. We were coming off of a two game losing streak and we had just changed our whole offensive scheme. I ended up scoring two touchdowns and rushed for over 100 yards. After the game I got interviewed by the news. But our TEAMS best game was against Dearborn Fordson which we were the underdogs and we were losing at half time, the score was 23-2. We came back and stopped their offense and won the game 24-23. It was the best game I ever played in.

Why are sports/education important to you?
Education is important because you can go basically anywhere with good grades and being smart. When you are smart you have alot more job opportunities and college opportunities. Education lasts a life time, sports are part time. You won't be able to do sports all your life but it is important to me because it keeps my body healthy,in shape, and it keeps me out of trouble. It also helps me meet alot of other skilled athletes and professional athletes. Education ad sports together gives me a better chance at getting a scholarship for college.

What can you do to make yourself better in your sport?
The best thing to help me in football is practice, work out, and be confident in myself. Learn more about my position by watching professional athletes and going to camps. I have to be a coachable athlete as in doing what my coach asks of me and by putting myself around people that won't hate on you or tell you the wrong things. I need to be around people that are positive and want to go somewhere in life.

What is your dream college?
I don't really know what my dream college is but I would love to go to any school in the Pac-10. They like small speedy players and that is what I am. But I am receiving mail from many colleges and my father is receiving many phone calls from colleges.

If a College Coach ask you, how can you make our team better, what would you say?
The way I can make their team better is by being a team player, alot of hard work, and dedication to the team. Being a playmaker by stepping up in big game time situations and by always being positive. When the team is down, somebody has to be the one to bring their spirits back up to win the game.

What advice can you give other student-athletes?
I would tell them don't let anything stand in their way of their dreams, stay focused on their goals, and keep God the head of their life. Also to always put education and family before sports because sports is secondary.

ALEX TUCCI- YORK CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

Tell everyone about yourself?
My name is Alex Tucci, and I am a 16 year old Junior at York Catholic High School in York, PA and I live in Stewartstown, PA. I'm 6'6 and I am a left-handed baseball player. I pitch and I play first-base. I'm a second-year starter for my varsity team. I was named a county all-star as a sophomore, and I hope to play college baseball. This summer, I'll be playing for the Putty Hill Panthers 16U team in the Baltimore Metro League.

What was your best game?
My best game had to be during this past fall. I was playing in the York fall high school league, and I went 5-for-5 with a home run, 2 doubles, and 6 RBI's. I also pitched a complete game, 4 hit, 1 run effort with 14 strikeouts.

Why are sports/education important to you?
Sports and Education are both very important to me. my GPA is 3.65 and I scored a 1940 on my SAT's. I study hard, and I always look forward to playing on the diamond. My hard work in the classroom reflects on the field, where this high school year i am hitting .500 (7-for-14) through 6 games. My slugging percentage is 1.000 and my on-base percentage is .563 (9-for-16). I have gathered 7 RBI's.

What can you do to make yourself better in your sport?
My key to improving myself is to improve my mechanics on the mound. My walk count is high this year, and with fine-tuning my mechanics, I can reduce my walks.

What is your dream college?
My dream college is Pepperdine University because it has a high-quality program, but the academics are good as well. Also, it is in Malibu, a city in which I would very much enjoy being located. Another dream college is Coastal Carolina University, because it also has high-quality academics and a prestigious team with outstanding coaches. It is also located only a few miles away from Myrtle Beach, SC, which is a very nice beach town. If that doesn't work out, my other college interests include: University of Kentucky, West Virginia University, University of Texas and the University of Virginia.

If a College Coach ask you, how can you make our team better, what would you say?
If a coach asked me that, I would respond that I am an energetic player that can inspire my teammates in the classroom and on the field. I can bring a quality pitcher, fielder, and hitter to a team and I am willing to do anything to make the team better.

What advice can you give other student-athletes?
My advice to give other student-athletes is to focus on school. I'm not saying that athletics aren't important, but if your academic record is very good, it makes it easier on the college to offer you scholarships. And then, when your academics are in check, you can work your heart out at the sport(s) that you love.
