Injuries In NFL Training Camps Are Huge Blows For Teams

SoSportz.com- Torn ACL, torn labrum, torn achilles, torn rotator cuff. These are just some of the injuries we hear most often after a typical NFL training camp practice. These men are fighting for roster spots, contract extensions, and practice squad spots. Each and everyday they put their body on the line to reach one of the goals mentioned previously. Jeremy Maclin of the Philadelphia Eagles(torn acl), Dennis Pitta of the Baltimore Ravens(hip fracture), and Percy Harvin of the Seattle Seahawks(hip labrum tear) are three of the big name players that have      recently had devastating injuries at the beginning of training camp that will end their 2013 season (Harvin is still questionable).

For the athlete, injuries like these can be very frustrating and can have a negative affect on their career. Physically, there will be long rehab process that will be very intense and painful. Even though the player will want to speed up the process so that he can  get back as soon as possible, they have to be patient so that the injury can heal properly. Mentally, the   player begins to question if they will be the same player they were before the injury, always asking the question "why me?", and the hardest part will be sitting at home or in the training room watching their teammates compete on Sundays.

Is it worth it? The NFL is trying their best to make the game safer and the injuries mentioned above happened in non-contact drills. Football is a violent game and it's nothing they can do that will prevent injuries. Players are getting bigger, faster, and stronger. The collisions will be more violent because of the size and speed of the players. Even though new rules have been implemented , once a player step on the football field, they are going to play the game the way they've been playing it their entire lives.

The organizations are hurt by these injuries because Maclin, Pitta, and Harvin are key players for their teams and were expected to put up big numbers. Now, there is an opportunity for someone to step into their role and make a name for themselves. The NFL is filled with talent that fans have never heard of but can be contributors for any team. "Next Man Up" is how the teams will approach this process and the next man could be the player that can become the next household name. Stay tuned.....

The Future of the NBA? Dynamic Duo Will Be Ready To Make Some Noise

Photo. Aaron hewitt
SoSportz.com- Portland Trailblazers guards Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum are bringing awareness to small school college programs. They are letting the world know that it's not about where you attend school but about how you ball on the basketball court.  Lillard played four years at Weber State and McCollum played four years at LeHigh University. Going to school for four years is not the norm but being a high draft pick from mid-major programs is almost impossible.

Now the Trail Blazers will have two players who are hungry, have a chip on their shoulders, and have something to prove in the same backcourt. This could be dangerous for opposing teams. Lillard has already pave the way by winning the NBA Rookie of the Year, averaged 19 points per game, and 6.5 assists per game last season. McCollum is a dynamic scorer and has a great all around game. The Portland Trail Blazers is a team that will be very exciting to watch during the 2013-2014 season.

Former University of Memphis Center, Tarik Black, Transfers To Kansas University

Tarik Black adds more size to
     a talented Kansas basketball team.
SoSportz.com- The 6'9, 245-pound big man decided to leave Memphis and take his talents to Kansas where they have just inked the number 1 player in the country in Andrew Wiggins. Kansas has one of the top recruiting classes in the class of 2013 and the addition of Black gives them another post player to bang down low.  He can get in foul trouble a lot and needs to work more on his offensive game but he's aggressive and will make Kansas a better team. Black earned All- Conference USA Second Team honors in 2012 and was also named to Conference USA All-Defensive Team. In his career, Black has averaged 9.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

SoSportz.com- David Garrard has decided to retire because his surgically-repaird knee is not holding up.  He texted NFL.com's Adam Schein, "Continuing to swell up after practices. Limiting what I can do." After this decision, Geno Smith chances to be the starter are looking greater and Mark Sanchez's time in New York could be extended.  Garrard finishes his nine-year career with 16,003 passing yards, 89 touchdowns, and an 85.8 QB rating.

How Do I Get Faster?

SoSportz.com- How do I get faster is a question every athlete ask themselves at some point. In most sports, speed is an asset that can separate you from your competition. For football players, speed is something that can make you tons of money or keep you from reaching your dreams if you lack it. Weight training, explosive lifts, plyometric workouts are just some of the ways to increase your speed

For you athletes out there, you should continue to do those things but there is something else you need to add to your workout regimen, AQSpeed! This program works and it only takes 15 minutes a day and you will see improvements in your quickness, power, agility, and you will run faster in just 14 days. The sound of it makes it seem like it's impossible and even a scam but this is the REAL deal. Using resistance bands, you can do it in the comfort of your own home and begin to separate yourselves from the rest of the athletes around the world. Click HERE to get the AQSpeed workout and see more information. Below are a two testimonials from current NFL players Glover Quin, safety for the Detroit Lions, and Malcolm Jenkins, safety for the New Orleans Saints who have used the program.

McGrady brings more veteran experience to a veteran team and will add a different dimension to the Spurs as they look to make a run to the NBA Championship.

Is Kobe Bryant's Career Over?

Kobe Bryant could have possibly tore is achilles tendon against the Warriors
on April 12, 2013 against the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers won 118-116.

SoSportz.com- One of the greatest players to play the game of basketball career could possibly be over. At age 34, Kobe Bryant continues to dominate the game and puts his team on his back every night. He's dunking on players, shooting fade aways, makes circus shots, and brings it on the defensive end the same way he does on the offensive end. Someone who plays the game with so much passion, love, and tenacity, you hate to see their season end with a terrible injury.  With 3:08 left in the fourth quarter, Kobe fell to the ground holding his left calf as he was in obvious pain.  He limped to the bench and returned to make two free throws before being helped to the locker room.  The MRI was scheduled for today and the diagnosis came back as a torn achilles. The injury will keep him out six to nine months. This is the worst injury in Kobe Bryant's career. If he was a young twenty-three year old player I think he would be able to bounce back but at age thirty-four, it would be a miracle. Of course the way "The Black Mamba" mindset is, he will try his best to comeback strong and prove to everyone why he is who he is.  He had been playing 40 to 48 minutes each night to keep the Los Angeles Lakers in the playoff hunt with the 8th seed. Is it still possible without the NBA's top ten greatest player of all time?  We will find out soon.
