Portland Trail Blazers Damian Lillard is off to a hot start

SoSportz.com- Confidence, swagger, heart, hard work, and passion. These are just a few words that describe Portland Trail Blazers rookie point guard Damian Lillard. I didn't know too much about Lillard in college, Weber State, but he caught my eye during the NBA Summer League play. The way he scores at will and the explosiveness that he displays will have him right at the top of the point guard ranks along with Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo, and Derron Williams.

Athletes who come from smaller schools sometimes do not get the respect they deserve due to the talent level that they are playing against on a weekly basis. It's time to respect Lillard. He's the real deal and will take the Trail Blazers to another level. Through the first three games of the season, he's averaging 21.3 points per game, 9 assist per game, and 4 rebounds per game. He's the third player in NBA history to post per-game averages of at least 20 points and 9 or more assists through his first three games in the league. The other two were Oscar Robertson and John Wall. Lillard is my pick for the Rookie of the Year(most will have Anthony Davis). Stay tuned, this is just the beginning.

NBA's best dressed

SoSportz.com- Athletes take pride in how they are dressed before and after games. Who is the best dressed player in the NBA?

Kobe Bryant(Los Angeles Lakers)

Dwayne Wade(Miami Heat)

Derrick Rose(Chicago Bulls)

Kevin Durant(OKC Thunder)

Lebron James(Miami Heat)

Chris Paul(Los Angeles Clippers)
Blake Griffin(Los Angeles Clippers)
Carmelo Anthony(New York Knicks)

James Harden headed to the Houston Rockets

James Harden is now a member of the Houston Rockets.

SoSportz.comThe Oklahoma City Thunder have traded James Harden, Daequan Cook, Lazar Hayward and Cole Aldrich to the Houston Rockets for Jeremy Lamb, Kevin Martin, and future draft picks.

Harden will provide the Rockets with a very good all around player that can be a difference maker at every aspect of the game.  The Thunder fans will miss the "Beard" but now the Houston Rockets fans can get their "Beards" out and have the Toyota Center rocking.

Houston Texans Running Backs Arian Foster & Ben Tate are the best duo in the NFL

SoSportz.com- The dynamic duo of Arian Foster and Ben Tate have started the season strong.  In two games, Foster has 189 yards on 54 carries with 2 touchdowns and Tate has tallied 80 yards on 17 carries scoring 2 touchdowns.  The two have very distinct differences in their game but are very productive. Foster is the smoother of the two.  He looks like he's gliding when he runs the football. He has deceptive speed and can take it the distance on any given play.  Tate is more of a rugged runner who can run through you or around you. They are both confident and compliment each other very well. The Houston Texans have the luxury of having two Pro Bowl caliber running backs in the backfield and if they continue their play, I can see the Texans having two 1,000 yards rushers this year.  The Super Bowl is looking more realistic each week for the reigning AFC South champions.

Denver Broncos cornerback Tracy Porter seals the deal in his debut

SoSportz.com- Tracy Porter is famous in New Orleans for his interception against Peyton Manning in Super Bowl XLIV to seal the victory for the New Orleans Saints. Now teammates with the Denver Broncos, Manning and Porter can celebrate together as Porter intercepted Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown to seal the victory for the Broncos on Sunday Night Football. Watch out NFL, the Broncos are no joke.

What is a Game Changer?

SoSportz.com- What is a Game Changer?  A Game Changer is someone who makes a difference in a positive way in their field. Whether it's an athlete, businessman/woman, teacher, movie star, entrepreneur, student, or any other occupation.  Let's all aim to be Game Changers in whatever we do. Below are just a few Game Changers in their respective fields:

Michael Jordan- Arguably the best basketball player to ever play the game. He changed the way the game was played. To be so athletic and also fundamentally sound, Jordan was a player that every kid wanted to be like. He also changed the game off the court with his Jordan Brand.  From his shoes, apparel, team ownerships, and endorsement deals, Jordan is a household name around the world and will continue to be for years to come.

Mark Zuckerberg- The founder of Facebook revolutionized the way we communicate with friends, family, co-workers, etc. Coming up with the concept in his dorm room, Zuckerberg has taken over the social media world and will continue to generate new ideas to expand Facebook.

Oprah Winfrey- As Oprah always says "A little black girl from a small town in Mississippi".  Coming from where she did nobody would have ever thought that she would be where she is today. She has inspired so many people during her 25 years on the Oprah Winfrey Show and continues to inspire on her own network, OWN. A true Game Changer in television, there will not be to many people that will be able to duplicate the things she has done.

Bill Belichick- The Head Coach for the New England Patriots is one of the best coaches of all-time.  His knowledge of the game is like no other. In the 2000's he has lead the Patriots to 5 Super Bowl appearances with 3 Super Bowl victories.  He will definitely have a Hall of Fame bust in Canton, Ohio when his coaching career is over.

Katie Kraft- She's the 2012-2013 State President for the Maryland State Society Children of the American Revolution and has been a member of C.A.R. for 16 years and an active member for 14 years. The C.A.R. is a children’s organization focusing on leadership and community service. She has been a Girl Scout for 12 years and is currently working on her Gold Award Project (an 80-hour project which is the Girl Scout equivalent of the Boy Scout Eagle Scout Award). Katie also serves her church and community in many ways. Katie's state president's project is to raise funds for the "Message from the Heart" program through the Jonathan Collins Foundation. Through this program, children of military parents are given, free of charge, a Build-A-Bear with a voice recording of their parent inside. The recordings are made by their parents before the parents deploy. After the parents deploy the children go to Build-A-Bear, pick out a bear and an outfit and have the voice recording put inside. This way, the child can always have their parent with them. Check out Kids Are Heroes.
