Tell everyone about yourself?
Hey, I’m Tyrone McVay and I go to Bolton High School. I was on the freshman football team this past season and played weak-side linebacker. I stand 6 feet tall and weigh around 165 pounds. My speed, leg power, and explosiveness stand out among other linebackers in our league.
What was your best game?
My best game was against Arlington High School’s freshman football team. In that game I had 11 tackles, 4 pass rushes, 2 quarterback knock-downs, and 2 interceptions, which made me set a higher standard of play for myself.
How do you make your team better?
I am a hard worker on the field and I help make me and my teammates better by using constructive criticism. I use constructive criticism because it helps show my teammates tricks or how they could do something better without discouraging them
Who is your favorite player? Why?
My favorite player is Demarcus Ware of the Dallas Cowboys because he is a great all around football player. Even if Ware does not make the tackle, you will always see him getting penetration of the line, which disrupts the initial play, and he shows great hustle.
Why are sports/education important to you?
Sports are important to me because they teach me discipline which I use on and off the field. Education is more important because if you have a career ending injury in football you need to have a backbone. If you have poor grades you will not go as far as you would with excelling grades.
What do you want to do if sports don't work out?
If sports don’t work out I plan to have a career in management. I chose management because I am good with conducting activities and getting a job done.
What advice can you give other student-athletes?
The advice I give to other student athletes is to never give up on anything. If a goal or award means something to you then it should be worth the hassles and difficulties of working for it.
