JERRY WILLIAMS III- HENRY CLAY HIGH SCHOOL

Tell everyone about yourself?
Hey What's up SoSportz my name is Jerry Williams III. I am a Junior at Henry Clay High School in Lexington, KY. I am the starting Quarterback for Varsity. When I played QB for my Freshman and JV team we went undefeated. I've been playing Varsity football since my freshman year as a second string Quarterback and also played Conerback, Free Safety, and Receiver at the Varsity Level. I'm a Hardworking , Dedicated young man and I know there's always room for improvement. A motto I use for myself is(given to me by my mother) "As I go through life I try to IMPROVE myself not PROVE myself". Also I give a 110 percent in practice and even more in games. Football is my passion and I'll give my all for my team to get that Win. As far as Colleges go, University of Kentucky and University of Louisville has shown the most serious interest however Michigan St., West Virginia, Virginia, Texas A&M, and PITT have shown interest also. I am looking forward to this (2010) Football Season.

What was your best game?
My Best game was in (2009) First Round of the Play-offs against the Lafayette Generals. I Threw for 296 yards and 6 Touchdowns and rushed for 45 yards. We ended up winning the game 47 to 10.

What are your strengths as a quarterback?
My strengths as a Quarterback would be my running ability and being able to throw an accurate ball while scrambling. My knowledge of the game and my ability to be a leader are also strong qualities.

Why are sports/education important to you?
Sports and Education are important to me because with sports I've been playing since age 5 starting with flag football. Ever since it's been football, football, football burned into my heart and I love it. I love the intensity walking out on that field for pre-game warming up, talking to your teammates about how we have each others back, and we're going to get this win. As for myself, wanting to be an Engineer, education is also just as important. Without an education you're nothing. Dedication on and off the field is very important. You have to have something to fall back on. You never know when an injury may occur in your football career.

What is your dream college?
My dream college would be West Virginia. I've always watched Pat White and watched his techniques in one on one situations. Also the Mountaineers atmosphere is great. There are die hard fans there that love Mountaineer Football and I would love to play for that University.

If a College Coach ask you, how can you make our team better, what would you say?
I'm bringing leadership skills, the desire to win, and the skills necessary to achieve that goal. I have knowledge of the game and I've played many position. I'm a very coachable guy and I'm able to take criticism and use it to better myself.

What advice can you give other student-athletes?
After practice go throw routes with your receivers and get that timing perfect! Go watch film and study your opponent. Break them down and study their weakness. Ask your coach what his game plan is for this week, study it, see what you like and don't like, and just give your opinion on it! A wise Quarterback(Shane Boyd) once told me " Don't take a day for granted and work hard EVERYDAY even if it's just an Extra 10-20mins because you're not just competing against people in your state or city but you're competing against everyone in the nation at your position."
